Overview
Adventure through the incredible Alps in a scenic train journey that will take you through breathtaking landscapes, picturesque towns and cosmopolitan cities. You’ll begin your trip in the fashion capital of the World, Milan, and travel north towards the glitz and glamour of Zurich or Geneva, passing through the delightful city of Chur along the way. Check out the itinerary below for a breakdown of your epic Alps escape!
Day One
You'll spend your first night in the magnificent Italian city of Milan, famous for its dominant position in the fashion world and for its peerless shopping opportunities. You’ll stay in the Hotel Berlino, located just outside the city centre and within easy reach of the many key sights. You'll unwind in a spacious twin and double room complete with an ensuite bathroom, a TV, Wi-Fi and air-conditioning, ensuring total relaxation whenever you're not busy experiencing all Milan has to offer. Explore the heart of the city and you’ll soon realise why it’s the forefront of art, fashion, food and design. Visit one of Europe’s largest gothic-style cathedrals, Milan Duomo, meander through piazzas, discover incredible art galleries and shop ‘til you drop!
Day Two
In the morning, you’ll catch a train to Tirano where you'll board the elegant Bernina Express. This legendary railway will take you across the Alps, offering spectacular views along the way. You’ll see glistening glaciers and negotiate nearly 200 bridges high up in the mountains, providing panoramas aplenty! Eventually, you’ll arrive in Chur - a charming mountaintop city filled with history and fresh air. Here you and your lucky companion will stay at the ibis Hotel Chur, situated in the heart of the old town amongst museums, restaurants, cafes, shops, a cable car and bike trails.
Day Three
The next day, you’ll continue your fairy tale journey to either the affluent city of Zurich or Geneva. As Switzerland’s largest and wealthiest city, every architectural accomplishment, luxurious shop and high-class restaurant in Zurich exudes money, but the city is rich in other ways too. Perhaps its most appealing aspect is its lovely location, idyllically sat at the meeting point of the Limmat River and Lake Zurich. Amble around the outskirts, take a boat out and roll over the softly undulating waters, or, if you're feeling more adventurous, wake-board over the sparkling lake. During your time in the shining city, you’ll stay at the modern Best Western Hotel Spirgarten. As great as Zurich is, Geneva is bursting with its own set of charms. Lying at the southern tip of the enormous Lake Geneva, the city is surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Lovers of France will feel right at home here too, with French influences felt throughout the wealthy streets and the local speech. Day Four
With what we’re sure to be is a massive collection of memorable photos and moments, you’ll head back to the UK.
